when wilder said that he can beat young mike tyson, I think he had a big confidence to say that, even it still unproven. maybe wilder's record looks promising, but there're alot of differences between wilder and young tyson.
a young tyson did alot of things wilder doesn't. a young tyson win his first title in the age of 20 and tyson still hold that record as the youngest man ever to win heavy weight title. wilder is 32 years old now and if he fight a young tyson, I don't think he can match a young tyson in stamina and speed. if I try to compare, wilder can't hold a punch from young tyson as powerful as when young tyson beat marvis frazier. I think wilder won't touch young tyson so much if you see how fast young tyson dodge an attack when he fight reggie gross. tyson is a the most tough fighter in his class when he was in his prime, both speed and stamina.
besides, wilder never face someone who much like a young tyson. that's what lennox lewis tweet about.
among all of wilder's opponent, there's no fighter who has speed and powerful punch like a young tyson. with his power punch and speed, he can even beat an experienced fighter like larry holmes, pinklon thomas, etc. besides, wilder's face get swollen when he fight johann duhaupas. maybe wilder is unbeatable for now, but it doesn't mean he won't get punched in the face. he has weakness too, and fighter with speed could exploit that.
instead of state an unproven thing, wilder should prove that he is the best fighter in heavy weight class by beat another good fighter. wilder doesn't do that yet until now, while compare to mike tyson, tyson was once an undisputed heavy weight champion of the world. if I remember, tyson become an undisputed heavy weight champion after beating another champion one by one, start with trevor berbick, james smith, tony tucker, and then michael spinks. tyson beat them one by one and prove himself as the best in heavy weight division. if wilder say that he can beat a young tyson, he should beat several names first, like tyson fury, alexander povetskin, anthony joshua, or retired wladimir klitschko (if wladimir want to fight too).
the upcoming fighter for wilder is luis ortiz. I think wilder can win, but it won't be easy. in my opinion, ortiz isn't typical fighter who depend so much on speed but he has a good defense so I think wilder can beat him as long as wilder doesn't make mistake.
what I wanna see is fight between wilder and tyson fury because in my opinion, both of them are typical fighter. if wilder win, he will open his own way to be the best in heavy weight division. and if people says "save the best for the last", then anthony joshua should be the last for him to prove that he is the best. wilder should make sure that his work speak the truth.
